Manchester United travel to CSKA Moscow to face the Russian Premier League side in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Both teams have three points from their opening matches and could take a huge step towards the knockout stage with a victory midweek.
The United squad flew out to the Russian capital today to prepare for Wednesday’s match.
Eric Bailly was part of the squad that boarded the plane. The Ivorian has missed our last three matches in Europe due to suspension – the Europa League final, the UEFA Super Cup and our 3-0 victory over FC Basel a fortnight ago.
However, Jose Mourinho will not be naming the same starting XI that won 1-0 at Southampton on Saturday as Marouane Fellaini remains in the England. The Belgian midfielder did not travel with the squad having suffered a knock over the weekend following a challenge from Southampton’s Shane Long.
Manchester Evening News were able to snap photos of 19 Manchester United players at the airport today and Bailly’s centre-back partner for all six Premier League games so far this season, Phil Jones, was not pictured among the travelling party.
Chris Smalling could partner Bailly on Wednesday after some excellent performances versus Basel and Burton Albion already this month. Victor Lindelof has also travelled to Russia.
With Fellaini joining Paul Pogba on the sidelines, it is expected that Ander Herrera will start alongside Nemanja Matic instead. As Michael Carrick was not spotted among the 19 players heading to Moscow it is very likely that the Spaniard will start. 20-year-old Scott McTominay is also available for selection.
Antonio Valencia appears to have been left at home to rest after a busy start to the season. Mourinho has taken Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young and youngster Axel Tuanzebe with him as options at right-back.
